Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is a “catch-all” term for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), and other linear and branched forms, consisting of nearly 15,000 chemicals. It is an emerging global health concern and subject of regulatory action and voluntary or mandated industrial phase-outs.
Due to the extreme stability of PFAS compounds, they are referred to as "forever chemicals". Given the toxicity and longevity of these compounds, there is an urgent need for the development of methods and products to remove PFAS from contaminated soils, bedrock, groundwater, and impermeable surfaces in the vicinity of human habitat, food sources and environmental receptors globally.

Data shows that PFAS-SOL® can increase recovery of PFAS from soil and groundwater several fold, and when combined with in-situ soil flushing, with an average improvement in removal of 240%, with removal rates of up to 622%. This can result in significantly improved PFAS desorption and mass removal when applied in soil, bedrock, and groundwater regimes.

The decontamination process reduced equipment surface residual PFAS contamination an additional 99.99998% beyond AFFF removal with the potable water flush (FAA Approach). PFAS-SOL® has the ability to penetrate into much smaller surface pore spaces than water alone. Accessing smaller pore spaces results in higher surface removal efficiency and minimizes rebound potential.
The capacity of the Ivey-blend surfactants to selectively dissolve or not, creates a unique ability to uplift and transport PFAS contaminants into a remediation solution, thereby increasing the recovery of PFAS off these surfaces. This is a novel and unique technological remediation advancement!
